Sony KDL46W4100 Review
The Sony KDL46W4100 is an attractive and extremely featured LCD TV. We were quite impressed by its performance, with very dark blacks, precise white colors and a brilliant display. That doesn’t mean there are no negative sides, because the color gamut is a little off and the viewing angle are not quite great.
If you are movie fan or you like some other fast moving action on your television, then this High Definition television has got a plenty of things what you are looking for. The Sony KDL46W4100 performance was well in our movement tests. We saw smooth movement with videos that contained lots of motion, and the LCD TV had no issues serving a good image.
This Sony supports a full High Definition or true HD signal. The choice of input and output ports is nice, including 4 HDMI connectors. Too bad that this TV doesn’t have a USB interface or some card reader.
This televison also offers TruSurround and that is a trademarked SRS technology that enables running 5.1 channel sound over two channel speaker systems. Sony has a outstanding virtual surround sound through any two speaker sound system, including internal television speaker units and headphones. It is completely compatible with any surround format up to 5.1 channels.
This TV also has three sound improving technologies to reproduce an awesome sound. Good sound with the solid picture quality really makes this Sony Bravia TV a good one.
The Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 did good in our tests of of dark and white colors. Black colors were really deep, specially for an LCD TV of this price tag. Whites and gray colors were rich and precise.
This TV really has excellent colors, we saw consistent white colors and a clear, exact representation of the basic colors that are used to make all colors on the screen. We were satisfied with color precision, but we did notice a slight issue with the TV’s color gamut, which actually means colors may not everytime come out precisely they should.
The largest issue with this LCD TV is a viewing angle. Looking from aside we found that the contrast ratio was decreasing. Contrast ratio is the difference in reproducing the black and light colors. This TV has a small viewing angle, even for an LCD TV, which generally don’t have good viewing angle as Plasma tv sets.
The remote control of Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 is nice, comfortable to hold and well laid out with the only one little issue that the controls for direction are at the opposite end of the remote from the volume pushes. The menu on the TV is like of that used in the PS3, and will require some time to get used to it.
Energy consumption is around average. You can use this TV and you don’t need to worry that you will get a big bill for electrics.
This Sony KDL46W4100 is a very great LCD TV, with a a lot of features and brilliant handling on about all fields. The viewing angle fact will be serious for pickier ones. If you need a TV is going to sit in a place where people will be looking at it from all angles you may want to go with a Plasma. If this isn’t an issue for you, then you you are going to get your money’s worth with the Sony KDL46W4100.
