Gateway ID5821u 15.6-Inch Laptop – Black Review from Lee. Very pretty, MAJOR problems in under 2 months, Beautiful laptop, runs fast. However, I’ve owned mine for less than two months and already had to:

1. do a system restore to a previous point

2. do a full restore to factory defaults

3. do another restore to the last working settings

and the HD has been making a thunking noise.

I called Gateway support and was essentially told that my problems were being caused by Vista. They are mailing me a restore disk. Laptop is running now but who knows for how long.

This is especially difficult for me as I am a freelance designer who relies on my computer to be able to earn income. I’m also going back to school full-time in under a week. I specifically bought a new machine to replace the desktop I built 3 years ago to have the assurance that I would have a shiny new up-to-date computer to work on and take with me if need be.

And now it looks that that’s going to be iffy at best.

I may be the only one who’s had these problems (I see 2 very positive reviews above me), but I figured it was worth mentioning.
